  1. Why is it that most food handlers working at the butchery, hardly wear anything covering their facial and arm hair?

    • Hi Michael,

      All food handlers with a moustache and/or beard must wear a beardnet if there is the likelihood it could cause product contamination. It is a legal requirement.

      It is a Good Manufacturing Practice for food handlers with excessive arm hairs to cover their forearms with a long sleeve uniform or wear plastic sleeve coverings specifically designed for forearms. For certain certification standards, this is compulsory unless it is impractical during certain processes.
